I found this fly against one of our outside walls today at Leerdam, Netherlands. It was quite a large fly, Pollenia-sized. I have never seen it before. It looks like a muscid to me. It has Phaonia-like darkened cross veins and a shiny bronze-colored scutum. It reminds me of Helina sp. I photographed before, except for the shiny scutum. Could anyone help me out? Thanks in advance! Jan Zwaaneveld attached the following image: [108.76Kb] http://slamenietd...web-log.nl |
