Apparently a new script acted up. I replaced it with the old one and it should be okay now.

I figured out the epistoma - the area between the mouth edge and the antenna, so no rush for a glossary item.
jorgemotalmeida 07 October 2007 23:46:07
maybe nycteribiid has no halteres as well. They don?t need them for nothing... if some species has no wings.
Paul Beuk 07 October 2007 10:30:31
Done. Can you do something about the epistoma question of conopid's below? Members can submit Glossary Terms... Wink
Igor Grichanov 07 October 2007 10:06:19
Paul, please send me your post address. Igor.
Paul Beuk 07 October 2007 08:48:16
There are several more apterous flies without halters, for example in Sciaridae and Cecidomyiidae.
conopid 06 October 2007 15:39:47
Any chance of a definition and or drawing for epistoma (particularly with reference to Dolichopodidae) in the Glossary?
jorgemotalmeida 05 October 2007 21:44:09
no unique... braulid flies has no halteres as well.
jorgemotalmeida 05 October 2007 21:12:13
as you can see the wings are absent AND this must be AN UNIQUE CASE (or at least extremely rare)... there are no HALTERES! Frown and it is a fly... awkward

Nigel, here you can see the sketch of Aenigmatias. The image will be available for some days though. It is a phorid fly. Very strange fly. Wink
jorgemotalmeida 05 October 2007 20:53:18
there are no photos in the web. Sad I just saw it once in a book - a scheme, not really a photo. But Aenigmatias (correct spelling) is very unusual for a fly. I will try to get a photo of the sketch. :
conopid 05 October 2007 19:54:35
Jorge - where can we see photo of Aenigmatistes? I don't know this fly.
crex 04 October 2007 10:49:43
Igor, are you going to use Scratchpads for your Doli's?
