I'd rather close the separate Asilidae and Syrphidae forums. Maintaining more family forums would eventually require the transfer of many threads to the correct forum.

I figured out the epistoma - the area between the mouth edge and the antenna, so no rush for a glossary item.

maybe nycteribiid has no halteres as well. They don?t need them for nothing... if some species has no wings.
