Hi, I think this fly is called fruit fly, but I'm not sure which family it belongs to.
I'd like to Id, it appears around my kitchen at the end of summer.

Thanks
Diego Rosa

Drosophilidae subfamily Steganinae. Reminds me of Leucophenga.

There would be very little or no chance to identify neotropical Leucophenga to species level, I guess?

I have that one also unidentified:

I do not know of a revision or review of Neotropical Leucophenga. One would need to read many papers.

Your old picture (id=11484) might show a male of the species which you photographed recently (a female). You may try to ask for identification a South-American specialist, e. g. Prof. C.R.Vilela (e-mail: crvilela@ib.usp.br). Anyway, L. maculosa, widely distributed in America (from USA to Argentina) looks like the flies you have photographed; this is just a suuggestion, not identification.
