I think thats neoitamus cyanurus! The colour of legs are typical for this species. The legs of N. socius are darker and not so yellow. please look here http://www.dipter...ad_id=2566 cheers markus |

Bothe species, socius and cyanurus show a high variety in most characters. SPEIGHT found only one possibilty for separation: the microtrichia on wings. If you haven't the specimen in your collection for checking, please use Neoitamus spec.. Yours Speight, M.C.D. (1988): Neoitamus cothurnatus (Diptera: Asilidae) not an Irish species. - Irish naturalists' journal 22(11): 485-487; Belfast. |

Hello Markus, Dysmachus and others, Thanks for the well appreciated input. Since I don't collect specimens I guess I'll have to do with Neoitamus sp. Andr? Jas |
