Hello ereryone,

is my determination correct? And if so, a determination to species is not possible from a foto, if I understood it right. Length 14 mm.

Location: Germany, Rhineland-Palatinum, 53572 Unkel, river Rhine valley, Stux hill, dry and warm habitat (grapeyards), nearby deciduous forest (oak, Fagus ...), July 17th, 2026, about 70m NN; the fly was attracted by light.

Thanks in advance,

Michael

Hi Michael,

Neoitamus is not correct. This species lacks the forward bending hairs you would expect on the hindside of the head and the ovipositor looks different. Have a look at the genus Tolmerus,

Best,
Jonne

Hello Jonne,

thanks for your answer. Maybe Tolmerus atricapillus?

Greetings from the Stux hill,

Michael

Hello Piros,

yes, Tolmerus cingulatus seems to fit better. Thank you for determination!
