Today's Mycetophilidae Theme

Among the sugar-feeders were these two Mycetophilids, different from the two species I posted before. For one thing, they have spots on their wings. Also, the leg spines are unusually stout, especially on the second fly posted below.

I'll post four pictures, two of Fly #1 and two of Fly #2. For each fly, one of the two photos is a cropped version to show the wing with larger detail.

Photographed yesterday, woodlands, West Virginia USA.

For Fly #1 (first two photos) the measurement was 4.4 mm from the front of the eyes to the rear of the wing.

Here is the second fly. It measured 5.6 mm from the front of the eyes to the rear of the abdomen.
