Flies Blow Bubbles, Bees Too

Since fly bubble-blowing has been a topic of interest here, I thought I would post my image from July showing a metallic bee blowing a bubble. Presumably the reasons for bee bubble blowing would be the same as for Diptera?

I think bees are supposed to do this to help evaporate water to concentrate the nectar. Not sure it's the same reason flies do it but seems extremely likely to me. Brian V. |
