And here comes one more Tachinidae from the cave in Germany, August 2010, around 6mm in size. Sorry for the quality of pictures - I found it hard to focus this one through the ocular of binocular... As this is a teneral specimen (I have around 10 of them and all are newly hatched), the wings are still unfolded... Is there anything possible to say from what is visible? Sorry, asking too much ... from me at least Maybe with a specimen it could be possible but it depends how much they have been damaged and how teneral they are.

That's a fair answer, Chris Most of the specimens I have are "very teneral" and the one in the picture is one of the oldest I wasn't expecting much, but sometimes miracles do happen. Thank's once more for the try! Andrius |
