1. I think this is B. maculipennis, a species that is quite regular, but local in my surrounding.

B. maculipennis has a distinct spots on the wings...

These images show clearly B. maculipennis, which I observed from 2006-2008. The first individual was photographed at the same location where I usually find B. maculipennis and I made the identification based on my earlier observations. Those flies were than identified by Dieter.

It is interesting that for the first time i observe a different B. species at the same spot. This photographed fly clearly does not have the spots on the wing, the crossvein is darkened and that is it for wing ornamentation.

I have to collect some of these next year and key them out.
