As a rule, I'd agree that identifying Hydrellia from photos is a risky business. However, this one is quite distinctive - very small size, dull black frons, shining black thorax and abdomen, silver face - it is (almost certainly) H. albilabris. It is a specialist feeder on duckweed (Lemna). Am I right to suggest that this was present? Tony ---------- Tony Irwin |

Yes Tony, an almost dried small pool with its bottom covered with Lemna was there. Thanks a lot!
