hello flyforum,

This fly look-likes Dolichopodidae to me..
I found some of these D. species today.

It was rather typical because of:

dark pterostigma
dark black hairs, but also gold-yellow around scutum.
yellow/white line on segment 2
Abdomen was bended downwards. (by most of these flies)

greeting, Robert

Robert Is it perhaps Chrysopilus ? maybe close to cristatatus but not quite - This is Rhagionidae - Chrysopilus are delicately legged flies , the body initially clothed in golden pubescence soon lost .I'll get back on the species. Robert (two Roberts)

For future reference: the rather complicated wing venation immediately sets this fly apart from all dolichopodids.

Chrysopilus it is. I think it will be C. cristatus (= auratus).

Hi Robert, Kahis and Paul,

I am really surprised! I think it's size and the redish big eyes put me on the wrong path..
And to hear that this is Rhagionidae is also not what I expected.
From this family I only know and have seen bigger species.
Thanks a lot for your reaction!

greeting, Robert II Smile
