Dear all, last summer I found this syrphid fly on mount Stoos in the Swiss Alps. Could it be Arctophila bombiformis? It looks somewhat similar, but I'm not entirely convinced that I got it right. THe dark band on the pronotum seems broader on other pictures and the abdomen doesn't usually seem to be orange-brown like in this picture.. I appreciate any help! Hi Adrian, this one is not of Syrphidae but of Oestridae and I think it is a Cephenemyia stimulator.
Greetings, Eric Kloeckner |
