Hi, on June 7, I found the 8 mm long puparium shown here in a mixed forest in Germany (Saxony). Can the producer of the patterned puparium and its final inhabitant be identified? Hi Marion, the puparium resembles Episyrphus balteatus except for the pattern (all pupae that I've found were very dark with a diffuse pattern. The Ichneumonida wasp looks like one of the subfamily Phygadeuontinae - very tricky but based on your photos not impossible to identify... Greetings, Eric |
