Picture taken in mid August, east China (Zhejiang province). This Asilidae has 3 tergites uncovered by its wings and the legs have a lot of spines. It looks like a Machimus to me. Can it be confirmed? Or there're some other candidates that look similar? Many thanks in advance.

From the wing venation and shape of the male genitalia, this should be Philodicus.

Awesome! Thank you, Chris, again for the correction and explanation! TumbsUp I did a quick check. Two species of Philodicus have been recoreded from east China, which are P. chinensis and P.javanus. Perhaps javanus. The pictures of male P. javanus I found at this link look very similar: https://www.resea..._340948782
