It looks like this fly is infested with mites, and it seems this genus of Platypezidae often is. See another heavily infected Microsania here: http://www.dipter...ad_id=7691 and there is a mention of this on pp 81-82 of The Flat-footed flies of Europe by Peter Chandler: http://books.goog...A81&dq

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
