Well, I am not a specialist in history of eating habits, but I remember to have read that before potatoes became ordinary food, people here were eating much more beans.
Andre 20 December 2010 13:21:04
Were they eating sheep instead, Ruud? Grin
Roger Thomason 20 December 2010 01:40:03
They should have stuck around..Lot more Wool after the Highland Clearances... Frown
rvanderweele 19 December 2010 23:38:10
I am a direct descendent of Scottish wool traders, who settled in Zeeland, in the 16 century, so I am pretty sure they didn't eat potatoes.
Roger Thomason 19 December 2010 22:24:58
Frown Traced back my ancestry to some potato eating Scotsman who fled here in 1745 after the Battle of Culloden...so doesn't bode well Jorge. Grin
