I have been passed a very confusing Eupeodes in extremely battered condition. As far as I can see it is not nielseni/nitens nor is it corollae, latifasciatus or luniger. I end up in the area of bucculatus/goeldlini but it seems not to fit either. My possible interpretation is E. duseki but I am far from convinced and as it is not a known British species I have no voucher material against which it might be compared! I wonder if anybody here can point me in a sensible direction or point out the foolish mistake I have made!

The person who captured the specimen ran it to parasyrphus but as far as I can see the anterior anepisternum is bare. Unfortunately, there are some pale hairs on the margins of tergites 2-5, and unlike most Eupeodes they are quite long (which made me think of E. nitens).

The files are rather large so better seen at https://www.facebook.com/groups/Syrphidae/permalink/3475959002445280/

Hello Roger Morris,

I'd like to see it now, but I'm not on facebook. Could you upload a couple of photo's in less quality here?

Kind regards,

Ectemnius

Bit of a problem as reducing the files means tiny photos I'll see what I can do but don't have the technology to do them. More in due course if I am successful!

By the way, the size of the file in bites and in pixs are two separate things. In necessary, choose a lower res jpg.
