Hello, this larva was found inside a sleeping room in Germany. Larvae like this where found regulary in that room, about two of them every few days. It was not possible to identify a food source, they where just crawling around on the floor. I think it´s Diptera, but i´m not 100% sure. Can anyone identify it further? I can provide additonal pictures and video footage if needed. (the scalebar is in cm) Thanks, Jakob |

I would suggest Volucellla inanis - they often emerge from the wasp nests where they live and crawl around looking for a pupation site. I think you may find a wasp nest in the roof above the bedroom.

Thank you! Do you know what conditions they need for pupation? It may be worth a try rearing them. |

They form a fairly tough puparium, so you should be able to rear them OK. As with most Diptera, they will need a small amount of moisture (a slightly damp tissue will do) in order to emerge successfully. And they may need a period of cold and then warm to make them think they've overwintered.
