Berlin - June 2018

Hello everyone,

I think that this is Limoniidae but i don't know much about them. I tried to find a genus and i see photos of a very similar species named Metalimnobia quadrimaculata. I wonder if this could be Metalimnobia? i don't think that other Metalimnobia match outside of Metalimnobia quadrimaculata. So is this correct?

Best wishes,
John

You are right John, it is the female of Metalimnobia quadrimaculata.
Best wishes, Niels-Jan Dek

Hello Niels-Jan,

Thank you for taking time to reply. I appreciate you very much.

Lucky guess for me Smile I tried to look at each genus and this one seems closest but i don't know much about them. I am happy to have an id for this one. I can learn from it, as i always do when i have a specimen.

i'll try to post better photos. i have over one million nature photos and not so much time to organize them. I usually just pick a photo and crop it for a post. I will start adding better photos once i can get these photos organized. I think that forgot to remove the extension tubes until the last few photos and the measurement. My apologies for the zoom and unfocused photo selection.

Best wishes,
John
