SW France 10 days ago, by the river Lot. Body size around 10 mm long. We are a bit confused with this hoverfly which looks like this genus, but we have'nt found one with an orange based bicoloured femur of the hind leg. Could it be another genus ? Thank you Helge, I considered this option for a while, but it seems all Tropidia have the hind leg femora really swollen close to the apex. |

Sorry to bother you again but some are suggesting it could be the Alder Wood Hoverfly Xylota abiens. What do you think ? |
