Hi,

today I caught a comparatively large hoverfly in our bathroom. I think, it could be a female of Xylota sylvarum, but I have never encountered that species before, so I'm not sure. Is the determination correct?

Germany, Southern Bavaria, Munich (-West), inside the house, bathroom, 23.06.2024, app. 12-14 mm

Greetings, Uli

I think, female X. sylvarum is correct.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
