Mating flies, so different they seem like 2 different families

Wow, these are the same species? They look like two different families!

Guyana, along the Rupununi River, southern Guyana. 20 May 2013.

What do I have here?

Both flies are Keroplatidae. They certainly look different but I have no idea if there might be sexual dimorphic species in Guyana...
