Hairy thorax, black femurs ...could it be Bibio marci?

Sorry, I have to amend may post. This picture ( … and in case of necessity I have some other photos of the same subject) have been taken exactly the 10th of May 2008 (I made a big mess!). In this case Bibio marci could be an acceptable hypotesis? Edited by Justafly on 25-11-2018 11:26 |

I would rule out Bibio marci by the white haired pleurae. It looks a lot closer to Bibio hortulanus but I cannot be sure without a dorsal view to see venation. This thread should be moved to the main forum, Paul |

Yes, very useful Unless there are more possibilities in Italy, this should be the male of Bibio hortulanus
