 Choerades femoratus?

Hi, This Choerades specimen was collected in July at Botkyrka, south of Stockholm, Sweden. Using the new german robberfly book, I end up at C. femoratus, which would be a first for the province of Södermanland. I find the white coloration of the facial hair and the length of the first antennal segment in relation to the second segment to be distinctly different in comparison to the four specimens of C. marginatus that I have in my personal collection. Aha, I had look at the pictures, but I'm not yet convinced, the face seems to have yellowish sheen to it , in femorata it is usually white. Also the antennae, the first segment doesn't seem to be more than 3x the second segment which would also point at marginata. Maybe this will help adding pictures: (Borrowed from FAQ) How do I attach a file (image) to my post? At the bottom of a new message you have the option to attach a document. Hello Petter, I think you are probably right with Choerades femorata. I see mostly silver white hairs on the face, a rather long first segment of the antennae and a quite typical lateral head profile. Maybe you can take a picture where the first and second segment of the antennae are in the same level, so that their length could be compared better? Greetings, Danny |

Hi again Danny and Reinoud, Here comes some more pictures. The first is close-up on the antennae, where the length of the antennal segments (hopefully) is more visible. When I measure the segments on the screen, the first segment appears to be approximately 3,5-3,6 times the length of the second. I also upload one more picture on the facial hairs.
