Hello,

This 2-3 mm fly I saw last week near Heerlen and (if it is a chloropid indeed) for once not on a meadow but in the forest.

Elachiptera tuberculifera (Chloropidae).

This species is easy to identify: thick arista, pollinose back and scutellar setae on long tubercles. The last character isn't very well visible in the pic but I think it's there. E. tuberculifera is very common during the colder months of the year (in N Europe). It is also present during the summer but perhaps in lower numbers and as there are so many other small flies on the wing, it is not as readily found.

Cheers,
Kahis

Thank you very much Kahis.

For me a picture gets an extra value when I know something about the animal I photographed.

I can no longer send private messages (and maybe not receive?), even though my inbox and outbox are not yet full. I write, click "send" and they disappear and never show up in the outbox.
