Empis with fore and back basitarsi swollen

Hello ! I met an Empis yesterday (13th of march) in France. I tried different keys but I can't really follow all the couplets based on these pictures. Based on habitus I think it may be Empis chioptera ? - fore and back basitarsi swollen - white wings when seen at a certain angle Do you think we could reasonably conclude to E. chioptera, or should we knock back to Empis sp. ? Or an entirely different species ? Thank you so much, your expertise is very valuable for rookie dipterists ! ![]() ![]() |

Looks quite good for a male Empis chioptera, but the images are too blurry to be sure, sorry. I propose male Empis cf. chioptera.
