One Question please. Can this Diptera species be assigned to a family? If I didn't have a website where I've uploaded all my observations from my fields and in the village, I wouldn't be asking.
I would be very grateful for a reply. Location data: Austria, Lower Austria, Tattendorf, 220m, garden, 15.5.2021
Kind regards Karl.

Hello Karl, from what I see: a male of the Empis (Leptempis) maculata group. If you have a lateral image, we could try to be more safe.
Greetings, Eric

A good Day Eric. Thank you for the Answer of Empis (Leptempis) maculata group. Unfortunately, I don't have a side view image. Perhaps I'll find this type of image again someday.
Kind regards Karl.

I will try to fix the messages this month. We have to make some other configuration changes before software goes out of support at end of year.
