I hope it isn't Scatophaga stercoraria. May be Scatophaga, but not stercoraria. Brown not yellow less hairy not spring or early summer but late autum. Or Scatophaga stercoraria? Help, please! Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |

Well, I would have to run it through a key to reliably answer your question. It may well be Scathophaga stercoraria since it is a rather variable species that can be found throughout the year, as long as temperatures do not drop too low. And just for the record, the correct spelling is Scathophaga, with the extra h. Without the h is an older, incorrect spelling. Paul - - - - Paul Beuk on https://diptera.info |

Thank you Paul. And thank you for short article about Scathophagidae family in Chechlist... It is first place where I found confirmation of several time observed fact that ScatHophagidae imago is predatos. I always put myself same question as in case of Dolichopodidae. Same answer, the pump? Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |
