Dear Rui, there is a quite recent (2015) revision of the genus Pelecocera available in the net. Unfortunately this is not working on your specimen which is belonging to Chamaesyrphus. Regards Piet |

Thank you Piet! In the checklist of Syrphidae from Portugal Chamaesyrphus lusitanicus is placed in Pelecocera so I was not sure if I should call this fly Pelecocera or Chamaesyrphus. And is there a key for Chamaesyrphus? |

As far as I know, Chamaesyrphus is placed in Pelecocera in recent literature and it is considered a subgenus within Pelecocera. You can download the paper where this is shown here: https://www.resea...characters But yes, as Piet says, the recent work by Ximo only covers the 'real' Pelecocera: https://www.zfmk....cera_0.pdf I also need an updated key of Chamaesyrphus. I would be very grateful if somebody can provide it  Thanks in advance!  |

According to Andre van Eck it should be Chamaesyrphus pruinosomaculatus....
