This one really pussels me!

Pelecocera tricincta comes to mind, with those antennae and markings on the abdomen.

Hi Paul.
Thank you very much for looking at this fly!

I´ve read the key in "Nationalnyklen - Eristalinae & Microdontinae" Wich perfectly leeds to Pelecocera.

But in tricincta there are some misfits:
- 3.Antaenna part and Arista should be pointing straight forward but Arista points obliquely upwards;
- The grey marknings on the tergits Should be yellow and larger.

It made me take a closer look at the wing venation. The angels on the picts. are fare from perfect but it seems that m1 follows the wingtip instead of make an 90degree angel to R4+5.

This leeds to P.caledonica/lusitanica.
Grey small markings on tegits and no "vhite hairs near ant. spirakel" leeds to P caledonica.

Do my amateur analysis make sence?

Ole

the hairs near anterior spiracle - if present - are difficult to observe. I think lusitanica would be more likely. However, without a voucher we will never know what it is really is...

Best wishes
Dieter

Thank you very much!
Next time´I´ll certainly catch it, (but I´ll probably never get another chance)

Best wishes, Ole
