 It's a species of the genus Villa (Bombyliidae). So, not a syrphid...

Ooops! Thank you very much! I will have to invest a bit in basic Bibliography to at least sort the family out!

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
