Hi, I photographed this fly in Eindhoven, the south of the Netherlands, near a small river in the beginning of July. I have searched other websites to determine this fly, but did not succeed. I have created this thread in the Asilidae forum, because i think it is some sub family of a Asilidae. Hope somebody can help me with the determination of this fly. More help from this great site is appreciated. Thank you very much, Richard Richard Fasen attached the following image: [143.51Kb] |

Thank you both for pointing me in the right direction. I really do think it is a "Cliorismia ardea" Thank you, Richard |

As far as i understood, the species rustica and ardea are hard to separate. But you are close : )
