Hi, i tentatively ID'd this one as Leucophaga maculata - but am by no means an expert, and was wondering if anybody could confirm or offer a different opinion?

It was taken a couple of years ago in the New Forest, October, ~8-9 mm in length.

Much appreciated,

Richard

Hello Richard,
I think this is a muscid fly.
It would be more practical if you could submit larger pictures (eg 500 pixels wide).Wink

Best regards.
Stephane.

this is not Leucophenga. never! Smile Luecophenga maculata has a very distinctive occiput, and frontalia totally white. Smile

But with this size is not easy to see characters...
perhaps muscid as Stephane Lebrun told?

Hi, hopefully this is a bit bigger, though the quality diminishes with size.
