These are from some very wet soil/moss inside a conservatory near a fountain. I am hoping to locate the larval stage of Amblypsilopus variegatus. Any chance that this is it? The species is not native to our area, but was imported with the plants inside the greenhouse. edit... as many chitinized plates are missing on the dorsal surface in the anterior part it must me a member of a Psychodini. So larvae of Psychoda or Tinaeria seems more likely, but I do not know were it is from, so ....

Jozef and atylotus, Psychodidae would be a good fit as the soil/mud from which this larva was obtained had a very high algae content. Many thanks. I'll keep looking for other critters to find my doli larvae. Thanks! Keith Short |

I incubated the larvae in some water and debris from the spot where they were collected. Here is a photo of the pupae. It is under the liquid.
