thanks, I find those two families confusing but then I am only going by photos. I had this one as Coenosia tigrina but expect that is wrong too? Edited by Toby on 30-03-2007 00:20 |

I think this latter image shows a Muscid, but not Coenosia and not even Coenosiinae.

First fly Nikita is correct. Anthomyiidae Second fly Muscidae Looks like Phaonia perhaps errans This is a big, bulky fly.Coenosiinae are much smaller.
