* date - 28.02.2007
* size - 5 mm (medium fly)
* habitat - farmland
* substrate - grass

Is it ID species possible?

Well, it's certainly a Bibio sp. ... I wouldn't call it "amazing" it looks fairly normal Wink I also wouldn't like to put a name to it though - I can't see enough to even run it through the British key. Sad

Amazing when first seen,
but quite typical for male Bibio,

as far as I can tell,
this should be Bibio johannis, the earliest spring species
