Hi * locality - Pedra Cavaleira - Silgueiros - Viseu - PORTUGAL * date - 13.11.2006 * size - 2 mm - 3 mm (very small flies) * habitat - woodland * substrate - Acacia sp. The right one seems to be a Chironomidae fly... the left one I don?t have an idea.. The spider seems to be a Theridion sp. It could be too Kochiura aulica. Thank you. jorgemotalmeida attached the following image: [191.5Kb] Edited by jorgemotalmeida on 17-11-2006 23:32 |

Hallo Jorge, The two preys of the spider are not Diptera. Both are Homoptera, and the family is Psylloidea (Psyllids) Look at this: http://www.psyllids.org/ Greetings, Greetings, Gerard Pennards |

Four wings (well visible in top specimen, right fore extended, right hind over abdomen), way the wings are held (bottom specimen, roof-like) wing venation, broad head with flattened dorsal surface, etc.
