 Eristalis pertinax - all of them?

Hi trying to "iD" different Eristalis, to look after the right details I would be very happy If anybody could control my tries. Confirm or adjust. According to result of this tries, if well done, I can feel more sure in future for own Eristalis ID's in some clear cases. Thanks a lot! Hi, again Brigitte! This one is good material for discussion  Undoubtly, pictures 1, 3 and 4 show Eristalis with yellowish tarsi 1 and 2. I guess that make them E. pertinax at once altough I am a bit puzzled by the stigma, a bit too long and pale for E. pertinax for my taste. But E. similis (which is the typical with that kind of stigmas) doesn't have pale front tarsi. So I guess those are indeed E. pertinax. The one that doesn't convince me is picture 2. It is a male (all the others are female) and a different specimen. I cannot see the tarsi but the stigma is too similar to that of E. similis. The shape of the abdomen is closer to pertinax than similis though. I think you'd better wait for the opinion of the real experts here |
