This was found dead in midwest Sweden 2006-07-03. I shouldn't have placed it on a white background. The contrast got too high and the fly was small ... Well, if anything can be said - shoot Edit: Subject changed (Dolichopodidae sp?) crex attached the following image: [84.92Kb] Edited by crex on 12-11-2006 10:41 |

Hi! Jere, you are very spirited in ID this female. I would say 75% for metallicus. Sweden has several more close species. Best wishes, Igor. |

Hmm. You are right, I should have compared with reference specimens. I don't think it has the costal bulge typical for G. celer and brevicorne. That leaves aerosus and metallicus (plus many species unlikely to be found in middle Sweden). It could be an unusually pale aerosus - this species usually has clearly darkened dorsal surfaces of fore and hind tibiae, but I've seen as few specimen (among thousands) with all-yellow legs. Thank you both for the attention. I just thought I should mention what I meant by midwest Sweden. It's not really halfway up, but actually W of lake V?nern (province Dalsland, and eastern part of Dalsland in ?nimskog parish). |
