Fruit fly attracted by Silkworm moth!?

According to an article in Science Daily researchers in USA have manipulated genes of Fruit Flies (Thephritidae?) with genes from Silkworm Moth so the flies were attracted by the scent from female moths. Hmm, I really hope they know what they are doing ... I guess mankind have something to gain from these experiments. We all have seen more than one movie about what happens when species from lab experiments escapes into the wild. That is mostly speculative fiction, but it gets you thinkin'. Our worst nightmares could become reality |
