I think this question will probably not be answered, but again I might be wrong. At least I do not remember any expert here ever commiting him or herself for a species here in the last couple of years. There are too many similar species, which are sometimes not separable for the best experts even using genitalial characteristics. The number of Pollenia species in Europe is also debated, and fluctuate widely depending on the author. (There are lots of Pollenia species described from a few individuals, which might be just wierd mutants, rather than species, and also species tend to be variable.) Based on the Calliphoridae literature In Hungary 50% of all Pollenia species are rudis, and 99% of the individuals are one of five species (if I remember correctly). |
