Unfortunately only one bad photo and no specimen collected - found near a mountain brook - photo not deleted, because never seen again - first I should ask: could it be an interesting species? My finger is close by the delete key Greetings Frank Austria / Osttirol: Innervillgraten, Kalksteiner Bach, 1450m, VIII.2004 Edited by Frank Koehler on 19-10-2006 00:49 --------------------------------------------------- Col.: http://www.koleop...de/gallery Het.: http://www.hetero... --------------------------------------------------- |

My guess would be around Rhinophoridae, but I have never seen anything similar. |

It seems to me that R4 with appendix, like in some of Tachinidae. But it isn't Tachinidae. Head wide. May be Oestridae? Nikita Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |

It's a syrphid Given the presence of scutellar bristles, I would say: Cheilosia. With > 100 spec., impossible to come to species ID. Theo Zeegers |

Thanks all! Have seen a lot Cheilosia species there, but no species with this wing attitude. I confess: Cheilosia was one of my ideas too ;-) Best regards Frank |
