The males front legs strike me as comical for some reason. Judging mostly by antennae, I am thinking Sarcophagidae? In a moment I will post a detail of the antennae. Open area near woodlands, 27 August 2006, West Virginia USA. ID help appreciated! Stephen attached the following image: [82.96Kb] --Stephen Stephen Cresswell www.americaninsects.net |

Hi Stephen Yes, Sarcophaga or a closely related genus. Unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with the Nearctic species to help further. Tony ---------- Tony Irwin |
