Eastern Turkey, 14 June; near Besiri, on steep slope of road close to river. Alt ca 550 m. Temperature rose to over 40, maybe 45 C in the afternoon. Most of the vegetation was yellow and parch dry. A single group of Echinops spec. was a veritable oasis for insects. Among these this spectacular Bombylid. Medium size.

rather close to E. lucidifrons after comparing with the original description and the figure. If this can be confirmed, then the species is reported in Turkey for the first time.

not only the expensive fuel (lt. more than 2,2 Euro), terrorist activities in East Turkey at the highest level nowadays. We are also under very high risk.
