 Beautiful Turkish Bombylid

Eastern Turkey, 14 June; near Besiri, on steep slope of road close to river. Alt ca 550 m. Temperature rose to over 40, maybe 45 C in the afternoon. Most of the vegetation was yellow and parch dry. A single group of Echinops spec. was a veritable oasis for insects. Among these this spectacular Bombylid. Medium size.

try lucidifrons or pectoralis, both species i am unfamiliar with but clearly yours is close to these, most likely lucidifrons |

rather close to E. lucidifrons after comparing with the original description and the figure. If this can be confirmed, then the species is reported in Turkey for the first time. |

not only the expensive fuel (lt. more than 2,2 Euro), terrorist activities in East Turkey at the highest level nowadays. We are also under very high risk. |
