surely, but in this case (R. livida?) the male seems to lose control with his gift and does not keep the prey in his hind legs as ii usually does. I expect that males in certain cases can use the same prey repetitively. Nice shot!

Empis]/i], not [i]livida. Cannot say from the picture. The unfortunate gift is another Empis... And when the female is handling the gift, the male does not have to hold on to it anymore.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
