Hello
Yesterday on some Daucus carota - plants I found many of these dark flies. Could they be Cheilosia bergenstammi?

Looking at the apparently bare eyes, and the colour of the hairs, on the top right male, and the very large orange antennae of the lower left female, I'd say these are more likely to be Cheilosia pagana.
(But I'm not sure about the top left female - it is possible that more than one species is present. Wink)

Yes, pagana was my first thought too. But are they that black - I didn't make them blacker than in the original pictures.

The female in the bottom left hand photo is almost certainly C pagana with those large orange antenna.

So top right and bottom left is Cheilosia pagana and the rest Cheilosia sp. Thank you very much for your answers! Maja
