woah! So black and white, it is T. rectus, a species from France and Spain (mainly). One of the most beautiful horseflies, in my opinion. Theo Zeegers |

Yes, thanks Theo, I was also impressed. Size and elegance as well. What makes it different from T.sudeticus, and visible on a photograph ? Forgive my question, as my entomological knowledge is very limited ! Dimitri |

Have a look at the gallery. T. sudeticus is more reddish on abdomen. It does have the central triangles, however, the lateral spots are lacking in sudeticus. Theo |

Well, it is difficult to see in the picture mentioned. Sudeticus is really reddish on sides of abdomen, in most cases this is quite obvious. theo |
