The larva of this species is one of the largest cecidomyiid larvae. Body length 13 mm (usually cecidomyiids are 4-5 mm). Its coloration - pink. Larva live in strongly decayed fallen larch trunks about 60 sm in diameter. Pupa dark pink, becoming darker with maturation. Imago - pink. Distribution - Tuva [geographical location - the Centre of Asia), Russia.
