Hi, I live in the UK, nothern part Yorkshire, this was seen and photgraphed in a coniferous clearing and as you can see was feeding on thistle flowers. Can you identify it? Is it a fly or a bee? Thank you Tim |

Hi Tim. It is fly from Tachinidae family, I think genus Tachina. Looks like Tachina grossa, but it has to have brown calypter, your fly has yellow. Soon Chris will give you precise answer. Nikita Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |
